Don’t limit collaboration because of Microsoft 365 security concerns

Here at Torsion, we know that many organisations are limiting file sharing and collaboration, because owners and compliance managers are concerned about security and not being in control of ‘who has access to what’.

Its tempting to just turn off all sharing in Microsoft 365 >> Policies. But this is bad.

  • External collaboration is beneficial for businesses because it allows them to tap into a larger network of resources and expertise.
  • By engaging with external partners and vendors, organizations can access additional skills, knowledge, and resources that may not be available internally.
  • External collaboration also helps companies stay ahead of the competition and remain innovative.
  • It can provide organizations and team members with access to new technologies, products, and services.
  • Additionally, it can help companies stay up-to-date on industry trends and identify new opportunities.
  • Collaboration makes people feel more connected, particularly in a growing hybrid-working environment.
  • Finally, it can be a cost-effective way to scale quickly and access the resources needed for growth.

Luckily, there is no need to sacrifice any benefits of collaboration for more security. Organizations can allow team members to collaborate freely AND stay secure. Torsion does this by automating the entire data access governance process: monitoring who has access to what; keeping permissions up to date; flagging up or stopping inappropriate access or sharing; providing compliance personnel with complete visibility and reporting of internal and external access at all times.
