Protect yourself against growing number of ransom hacks

Last month a Russian-based cyber-crime group, hacked the IT systems of Colonial Pipeline, cutting off nearly half of the US east coast’s fuel supply. The company paid a ransom in bitcoin worth $4.4m to restore its systems. Two weeks later another group based in Russia, carried out a ransomware attack against JBS Foods, the world’s biggest meat processor. You can read more about these attacks here.

The hackers know that many companies have cybersecurity practices that aren’t up to scratch and are finding ways to infiltrate key and sensitive information and consequently systems. Ensuring you know exactly who has access to what data, where and when is a major part of securing sensitive company information.
